Rev. Wright or Pastor Hagee. Who’s more Evil?
It is disturbing, to say the least, to hear the diatribe Reverend Wright has spewed over the last few days while speaking to the press. His hatred is all encompassing. His rants about the AIDS virus, crack, drug sentencing laws, and the Jews covers nearly every facet of American bigotry. His special brew of rust belt brimstone and his obvious Afrocentrism have made for a media storm. Obama was in fact his congregant for 20 years, and rose through the political ranks in Illinois at the foot of Reverend Wright.
John McCain, on the other hand, has been gladly endorsed by his own personal bigot, Pastor John Hagee. Although McCain never had a personal relationship with Hagee, he took his endorsement and danced around his beliefs. Being little different in fact if not faith from the Rev Wright, Pastor Hagee claims the hurricane that struck New Orleans was proof of the “judgment of God against the city of New Orleans”, because of a Gay Parade there. Being the true-blue bible thumping Texan cracker that he is, Hagee believes in the absolute authority of the scripture, miraculous healing, anointing with oil, baptism by immersion, evangelism, and the worship of the Lord through singing, clapping, and the lifting of hands, just like Wright. He also denounces abortion and homosexuality, and firmly supports Israel simply because he doesn’t agree with the teachings of the Roman Catholics or any reformers. He’s a right wing conservative that likes McCain, and McCain accepted his endorsement. McCain may not agree with all Hagee say’s, but at least he respects his views. That, my friends, is the sign of a true politician.
Obama, on the other hand, just blundered rather large. Anyone can see that if he doesn’t throw the Reverend under the bus, the Reverend keeps his mouth shut, the press lays off, and Michelle is out picking furniture for the White House. The problem is, Obama has no clue that those 20 years at the foot of the Reverend Wright is THE reason why he is at the pinnacle of American politics. It’s just too bad he didn’t have the brains to call Reverend Wright initially for advice, even with this. The Reverend acted no different than any other political gumba would have after his golden boy outed him. I’m also sure the Reverend would have set him straight, and we, the people, would have never known the difference.
Oh, and by the way, evil is as evil does.
